For consistency, Vietnamese bird names (except for ducks and chickens) are preceded by the word Chim meaning 'bird'. Ornithological lists mostly omit this as understood. The treecreeper found in Vietnam is the Brown-throated Treecreeper (Certhia discolor), known as Chim đuôi cứng 'stiff-tailed bird', although this name is not found in most dictionaries.
