The larks are known as นกจาบฝน nók càap-fŏn 'rain weaverbird (bird)' .

For some reason, Danh Lục Các Loài Chim ở Việt Nam (Latinh, Việt, Pháp, Hán) (33) lists Mirafra erythroptera as Chim Sơn ca Ấnđộ, although this species occurs only in India.
