Ornithological naming of the Campephagidae in Malay and other languages, including English, has been disrupted by some species reassignments.
1. The minivets are known in Malay as Burung Matahari 'sun-bird', and in some authorities as Burung Mas 'gold bird'.
2. The cuckoo-shrikes have a mixture of names. One name is Burung Kelabu 'grey-bird'. Burung Sewah 'cuckoo bird' is also used by some authorities for a couple of Coracina and Lalage species and one species is known as Burung Rembah 'flycatchershrike'.
Indonesian names
Indonesian names are divided by genus.
1. The minivets are known as Burung Sepah 'scarlet bird'.
2. The cuckoo-shrikes (Coracina) are known as Burung Kepudang-sungu 'dirty oriole bird'.
3. One species belonging to Lalage is known as Burung Kapasan Kemiri 'candlenut cotton-bird', based on the name of the candlenut (Aleurites moluccana).
